About the course
Want to learn more about the History of Architecture?
Join this 6 week evening course for a fascinating journey through the evolution of architecture.
Discover the styles, periods and language of architecture, through the lens of Bristol’s streetscapes.
How do we identify the differences between medieval Gothic and Victorian Gothic Revival? or early and late Georgian? What was Vernacular Revival all about? Why was Modernism so shockingly new? What can vernacular building tell us about local character? What’s happening post Post Modernism?
At the end of the course, you will be able to identify key aspects of the shape and look of towns, streets and houses. There will be an opportunity to take a walking tour in central Bristol and discuss what you have learnt.
